Search engine optimization or SEO is something that anyone that has a website should know about. The reason for this is that the Internet has become very competative and is becoming more competetive with each passing day. What search engine optimization or SEO actually describes, is the process of making your website appear more prominently in the search engine results when someone types in a keyword or phrase.

Ideally, the best place for your website to be located is first listing on the first page that is displayed, because this is where people are most likely to begin selecting websites to look at after they have typed in a keyword or key phrase. One important thing that you must do for search engine optimization is make sure that the text in your website is keyword rich.

This means that if all possible, you should have 12-15% keywords in the text of your website. This doesn't mean that you simply cram in keywords when the text is being written, because it must be interesting and readable at the same time. Some keywords are more easy to write around and fit in then others, so you may want to bear this in mind when selecting keywords.

Another thing that you will want to do for SEO is to submit articles to article directories that pertain to a topic that is relevant to the genre of your website. One thing that you don't want to do is over submit articles because Google will punish you for this by placing your website in their sandbox, so five a day will do. You will want to make sure that your articles are interesting and well written and grammatically correct. Another option that some people take is to procure the services of a SEO service that can do all of these things for you.
