Can you buy a higher Page Rank at Google?

Google claims that calculating the Page Rank and getting a good position in the search results are fully automated processes. Manipulating and pushing are 'forbidden' and trespassers are punished. But when you look at the structure of the Google system there might be a way to buy a higher ranking.
