The term “Web 2.0” has been around for a while, in terms of visual design for the web.
Many people use “Web 2.0 design” to refer to a certain visual style or look that's typical of of many new sites over the past 2 or 3 years (but which in fact predated the use of the term).
While there are some important and relevant design themes we can associate with “Web2.0”, these aren't the surface styles and effects that might first spring to mind. The elements of real Web2.0 design are not purely graphical.
Stuff like gradients, bold colours, big fonts, reflections and star flash labels, which I described in 2 previous articles (Current Style in Graphic Design for the Web and Web2.0 Style Guide) are short-term by-products of a more fundamental cultural shift.
This article aims to explain the difference, and demonstrate the really valuable elements that every designer should learn from modern web design.

I wouldn't and neither would you. Your website is your grocery store; your car lot. You must have an atmosphere that is pleasing to buyers. One that tells that buyer that you are not an amateur, but instead a trained, seasoned professional. I believe some people create and publish websites for the sole purpose of tormenting their visitors. Browsing various websites and navigating the Web can often be like trying to read on an airplane while a kid kicks the back of your seat and the baby next to you alternates between screaming, crying and drooling on you. There are some excellent websites out there to be sure, but there are also a lot of dreadful ones too. The latter are the bane of so many people's existence, especially those who use the Web regularly.
The Net continues to grow in popularity and importance for consumers and businesses alike. Therefore, the quality of sites needs to keep pace. Creating and maintaining high-quality websites is more important now than ever. Higher quality equals more revenue.

The basic 301 redirect works very well in a htaccess 301 redirect scenario, but what if you are changing your domain name? Writing out dozens, hundreds or perhaps even thousands of basic 301 redirects would be very time consuming and the potential for errors is huge.
If you've been using your current domain name for several years, you have probably built up a great deal of brand awareness amongst your visitors, some solid search engine rankings and other links pointing to your site. It would be a shame to lose all that hard work after you change your domain name - but there is a fairly simple way and relatively safe option for a smooth and seamless transition through the use of mod_rewrite and a .htaccess file.
